What is the TVET program?

FG TVET initiative is a federal government initiative overseen by the Federal Ministry of Education with the aim to equip Nigerian youths with practical vocational and technical skills. The program covers key skilled trades:

  • Plumbing
  • Fashion Design and Tailoring
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Agriculture
  • Welding and Fabrication
  • Motor Mechanics
  • And many more

Available Programs

The TVET available program are:

1. Short-Term Certificate (STC) Program

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Who it’s for: Individuals with no knowledge of any skill trades or without formal education
  • Goal: To provide basic training that will prepare them for immediate work or entrepreneurship

2. Vocational Education and Innovation (VEI) Program

  • Duration: 12 months
  • Who it’s for: Applicants with prior education or informal skills training
  • Entry Requirements: First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • Goal: To provide more advanced training leading to a nationally recognized certificate
You can choose any of the two programs based on the one that suits you. Both the programs are 100% free and funded by the Federal Government, making them accessible to all eligible Nigerians.

Who Can Apply?

The TVET program is open to a wide range of Nigerians:
  • Between 18 and 35 years old
  • You have a valid NIN (National Identification Number).
  • Have a valid BVN (Bank Verification Number)
  • Reside in any of the 36 states and FCT
  • School leaver, artisan, unemployed graduate, or someone ready to learn a trade
